Definations
(a)
Farz: (Obligatory)

and a great sinner.
Farz again is divided into two categories. The first is Farz-a-‘Ain,
which is obligatory on, and is to be compulsorily performed by every

which is performed by a few individuals, is discharged from the heads
of the rest (e.g., Janaza Namaaz.)
(b)

Wajib is
that which is proved by presumption. Anyone who omits or disavows it
cannot be called a Kafir, although he is great sinner.
(c)
Sunnat: (Traditions)
Sunnat is
also divided into two categories. One is Sunnata-Muakkahd, which was

The other Sunnat-a-Gair Muakkada was occasionally performed by him and
was sometimes without any reason omitted.
(d)
Nafil: (Voluntary)
That work which is permissible by the Canons of Muslim Law, and whose
excellence is proved by it is called Nafil. The performance of it is

(approved)
That which
was approved by Prophet Muhammad (p.b.o.h.) called Mustahab.
