Unparalleled
persecution |
||||||
(192) It is related by Anas that the Apostle of God said: “I was
threatened in the path of God as no one had been threatened, and I was
tortured in the path of God as no one had been tortured, and, once, thirty
days and nights passed when there was nothing for me and Bilal to eat,
which a living being could, except what Bilal had hidden under his arm.”                                                                  -Tirmidhi Commentary.-The Prophet narrated this incident of his life to impress upon his followers that he had to endure unparalleled pain and persecution in the cause of Faith but he cared nothing for the threats and extreme cruelty of his enemies and discharged his Apostolic duties with unswerving singleness of purpose. An instance of the privations he suffered was that once he had to go without food for a full month and ate nothing save what Bilal had concealed under his arm. |
