(141) Anas relates
from the Apostle of God that he said: “On the Day of Judgement
God will command [the angels stationed at Hell] that whoever may have
remembered Him at any time, or feared Him on any occasion, should be
taken out of Hell.”
-Tirmidhi
and Baihaqi
Commentary.-It is incontrovertible from the point of view of the Quran
and the Sunnah that anyone who dies in a state of Apostasy or Polytheism
will live permanently in Hell and no act of his will be deemed worthy
of securing his release from it. The above Tradition, accordingly, denotes
that whoever departs from the world in such a condition that he is not
an Apostate or a Polytheist but has committed a great many sins and
made no provision for the Hereafter except that he has remembered God
at any time, or feared Him on any occasion, will be cast into Hell on
the Judgement Day to undergo the punishment for his misdeeds but, after
some time, he will be taken out of it because of the Divine fear and
remembrance of God.
